Employee Testimonials
Sheila Hayes, CNA, Staffing Coordinator
Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home
"I've been at JGS for 9 years. I like it here, because the staff treats each other like family members and that includes the residents. I see it all the time, CNAs and nurses treat the residents the same as they would their own mother or father. This attitude is throughout the campus. Every department works together as a team - engineering, housekeeping, dietary, everyone. You can see it in the care. You can also see it on the faces of the employees and residents. You can see the pride in the work that we do and it shows through out the building."
Wendy Donovan, RN, Hospice Nurse
Spectrum Home Health and Hospice Care
"I have worked in healthcare for quite awhile. At Spectrum there is a special feeling. It is particularly poignant when caring for a dying patient - you can see how much it matters to the Nursing Home staff, they pitch in. There is a tremendous degree of participation from volunteers and family members; it is another level of care that our patients recieve. Working with hospice has been a new experience in my nursing career. The exciting piece has been the opportunity to work in a new, growing hospice. Being part of this development is empowering. I feel I matter. I get that feelling from my colleagues, administration, others at Spectrum and throughout Jewish Geriatric Services."
Brian Langevin, Assistant Food Service Coordinator
Ruth's House-An Assisted Living Residence
" I enjoy coming to work every day, it's like my second family here. It's comfortable. I prepare the food and cook it. I get to make people happy. Residents come to the kitchen door to talk to me, discuss the menu, but also tell me about their families and their lives. They are interesting people and I enjoy talking with them. You can't please everyone, but I try my best. I have just been appointed Chairman of the Campus Go Green Committee. I've never been a commitee chair, but I believe in caring for the environment and appreciate the confidence the administration has in me, to give me this responsibility."
Audrey DeFeo, Special Projects Coordinator
Jewish Geriatric Services
"I worked at Spectrum Home Health Care for ten years and during that time, I was able to grow in a number of ways, developing my management skills and having the opportunity to interact with people from throughout the whole organization. I left Spectrum to join another company and two years ago, returned to JGS in my present position. (There is a group of employees who have left JGS and returned, we are known informally as the 'Boomerang Club.')
When I returned I was pleased to see that there were many of the same people still working here - JGS enjoys employee longevity. In the role of "Special Projects Coordinator" I have a considerable amount of interaction with administrative staff, clinical staff and the residents. Every day is different. I never know what I will encounter. JGS has a lot of room for personal growth and there are many opportunities, if you are willing to apply yourself. There is a lot of support from management and executive staff. I appreciate that I am given a job and then trusted to complete it."
