GinsburgJewish Geriatric Services is pleased to honor Dr. Michael Ginsburg with this year’s Chairman’s Service Award.

Michael is a psychologist practicing in Longmeadow. He is a longtime friend, advocate and supporter of JGS, having assumed many leadership positions over the years. His commitment to serving the elderly and advancing the mission of JGS is exemplified through his many years of service and the breadth of his involvement with JGS.

Michael’s service on the JGS Board of Directors began in 1994, when he served on the Board of Spectrum Home Health Care. Over the years he has served on numerous committees, including the Development Steering Committee the House Committee and the Finance Committee. Michael is the current Clerk of the Jewish Nursing Home of Western MA and provides his sound judgment and insight to the JGS Strategic Planning Committee and the JGS Executive Committee.

Michael’s involvement with JGS is an intergenerational one. He continues a long tradition of dedication to the care of our community’s elders first begun by the Ginsburg and Weinberg families through Adams Supermarket and years of corporate support of JGS. He benefits from knowing JGS as both a leader and a family member, understanding the realities of delivering residential and healthcare services from both the provider’s vantage and that of the resident/client. His mother, Sylvia Ginsburg, is a former resident of Ruth’s House and a current resident of the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home.

Michael and his wife Sally have two children, Elliot who is married to Laura and live in Minneapolis, and Jillian who is married to Ross Palash and live in Manhattan.

It is an honor to pay tribute to Michael for his commitment to JGS and the quality of life of the people we serve by presenting him with the 2010 Chairman’s Service Award.
