Spectrum Hospice "Celebration of Life"

 Longmeadow High School Students participated in annual JGS Hospice Service

 altLongmeadow High School Students Samantha Krevalin, Laura Manzi and Julia Spelman lent their musical talents to this year’s “Celebration of Life” Hospice Memorial Service by singing a cappella the songs “You Raise Me Up,”   and “The Storm is Passing Over,”  

at Jewish Geriatric Services September 21st . This year’s service was held in the garden area of the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home. The service recognized the 70 Spectrum Hospice Care patients who died between the fall of 2010 and July 2011.

 The service, which was led by JGS director of Pastoral Services, Devorah Jacobson, including a reading of all the patients’ names aloud and several poems read by JGS staff : "Birth is a Beginning,” “Advice from a Tree,” “Nature,” and “Hope”. Staff placed live roses in a vase during the readings and family members were given wildflower seeds to plant.
