Genesis Resident and renowned saxophonist Paul LaValley entertains at JGS Stroll
September 14th marked the 5th annual Alzheimer’s Stroll at Jewish Geriatric Services. The stroll, “JGS Stroll-On the Move to End Alzheimer’s,” helps support
the work of the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Association, which is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer research, care and support.
The association is dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure, as well as lending needed support to those affected by the disease.
On September 7th, from 11 am to 11:30 am, JGS staff, volunteers and residents from all JGS entities-- Ruth’s House Assisted Living, the Julian J. Leavitt Family Nursing Home and Genesis House--as well as participants from the JGS Wernick Adult Day Health Care Center participated in the campus walk-- By walking around the campus, the participants bring awareness of the disease through this impressive demonstration of support. Each participant received a victory ribbon upon completion of the walk.
The stroll concluded in the JNH auditorium for a celebration lunch and entertainment, this year provided by Genesis Resident and locally renowned saxophonist Paul LaValley. LaValley had residents dancing to his renditions of timeless classics like “New York, New York,” and “Sweet Caroline,” pleasing both Yankees and Sox fans in the audience.
