31st Annual Kinsler Golf Classic

david gunasPro Golfer David Gunas supported Jewish Geriatric Services 31st Annual Kinsler Classic

While the weather unfortunately brought a day more typical for November than May, the spirits of the more than 80 golfers (and 80 more bridge and Mah Jongg players) who came out for the 31st annual JGS Kinsler Golf Classic were neither chilled nor dampened by the steady rain and brisk winds that accompanied them on the greens at Crestview Country Club in Agawam, May 16th.  This year, pro golfer David Gunas lent his support to the fundraiser.

Gunas, of Hebron, CT, set up on the 3rd hole and for each foursome that came through offered a shot to play from. "I had a lot of fun," said Gunas, "and was happy to help support JGS."

"It was terrific that David could give his time to us for this important event that helps JGS raise money to support the many vital services and programs we offer those we serve," said Usha Vig, Director of Special Events, Annual Giving and Volunteers.

Gunas is the winner of 38 Professional Golf Tournaments including Vermont Open, Maine Open and Portland Open. He has set seven course records as well.  Gunas also has several TV shows under his belt, starring in the Golf Channel's reality series "The Big Break". He played barefooted on the shows earning him the nickname "Barefoot Dave."  No word on whether he'd have done that at Kinsler if the weather hadn't been so miserable!

"Overall, our 31st Kinsler event was a huge success," said Vig, "and a true testament to the loyalty and deication of our entire JGS community."
